Why we must say #StopPornograpgy to Multi-Billion Industry?

Sex is a natural part of human life and sexuality has always been present in various forms throughout history. However, the rise of pornography in the digital age has taken sexuality to a whole new level, and it is having an absurd impact on human society.

Pornography has become a multi-billion dollar industry that is easily accessible to anyone with an internet connection. The industry has its roots in the sexually explicit content of ancient Rome and Greece, which ignited sexual desires in people. However, today's pornography is a far cry from educational literature like Kamasutra, which illustrated sexual positions, foreplay, and ways to attract partners.

The purpose of pornography is to arouse sexual activities, which is completely different from education and an attempt to change a culture. The rise of pornography in the 1960s and 1970s during the sexual revolution was supposed to be a time of openness towards sex. However, did society need this kind of openness? What society needed was education, which is still lacking, and the ability to discuss sex in a healthy way.

Indeed, sex is a matter for partners, and they should have the resources and environment to educate themselves. However, by making sex a subject in society, we have opened the door to the pornography industry, which is now worth a staggering 12 billion dollars. The industry projects harsh, violent, and unhealthy sexual activities, and a large number of the population, especially males, develop unrealistic sexual desires, which can result in crimes like domestic violence, rape, and unhealthy relationships.

The impact of pornography on society is more than just unhealthy sexual desires. It also promotes human trafficking and prostitution, which is a form of violence against women. According to the International Labour Organization, around 4.8 million people globally are involved in forced sex, while the United Nations Women states that a majority of people involved in prostitution are female. Pornography, therefore, fuels an industry that exploits and harms women and perpetuates inequality and violence.

It is important to realize that pornography is not just a harmless pastime. Watching porn can have a profound effect on an individual's behavior and perception of sex. The prevalence of violent and degrading sexual acts in pornography can lead to individuals becoming desensitized to these acts and potentially normalizing them. Moreover, the distorted image of sex that pornography provides can lead to unrealistic expectations, particularly among young people, who may find themselves unable to achieve the same level of sexual gratification as portrayed in pornography.

The prevalence of pornography in modern society is alarming. Around 30% of internet traffic is porn and 350 million unique users per month visit porn sites. This statistic is particularly concerning when we consider that a large segment of the population is surrendering their attention to content that promotes unhealthy sexual desires.

As a society, we must take responsibility for the impact of pornography on our young people. We need to do more to educate them about sex, relationships, and adulthood in a healthy and respectful manner. We also need to actively promote healthy sexual relationships and behaviors, rather than promoting an industry that exploits and harms women.

The #StopPornography movement aims to raise awareness of the harmful effects of pornography on society. It calls for individuals, communities, and policymakers to take action to reduce the prevalence of pornography and promote healthy sexual relationships. The movement recognizes that the sexualization of our culture is not inherently problematic but that the mainstreaming of pornography is a threat to our society and must be addressed.

In conclusion, while sex is a natural part of human life, the impact of the multi-billion dollar pornography industry on human society is absurd. The industry promotes unhealthy sexual desires, exploits and harms women.
